Volunteers Add Support and Compassion
Volunteers provide friendship, compassion, and companionship for patients and their families. Volunteers may read to the patient, make phone calls, write notes and even offer bereavement support. They are the “heart of hospice”.
Hospice of Hope is committed to providing compassionate care to our patients and their families. We believe that we should provide everyone the opportunity to die in a dignified and comfortable manner.
One of the ways we do this is through the help of our amazing volunteers who give some of themselves to make someone’s final days a bit easier by showing them compassion. So often, the smallest actions that show someone is cared about can be so meaningful to them.
Contact Volunteers
- Make friendly visits to patients to provide companionship
- Helping patients and families with household chores and shopping
- Mowing a patient’s lawn
- Walking a patient’s dog
- Answering telephones
- Filing
- Assisting with patient and family mailings
- Data entry
Non-Contact Volunteers
- Craft projects
- Quilting, sewing, knitting
- Cooking and baking
- Community events
